Improving air safety worldwide
Skyguide maintains close partnerships with international organisations and regulators. It represents Switzerland on the most important committees which are concerned with the safety of air traffic worldwide.
ICAO
Mandatory operational and technical procedures apply to air traffic worldwide. These are established and published by ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation), a sub-organisation of the UNO with its headquarters in Montreal. ICAO is active in all areas of aviation and drafts decrees with regard to air traffic regulations, meteorology, operation and approval of aircraft, air traffic control, aeronautical telecommunications and information services, search and rescue services, exhaust and noise emissions as well as certificates of competence for aeronautical staff.
Eurocontrol
The European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation Eurocontrol based in Brussels has the objective of developing a smooth, pan-European system for air traffic management (ATM). It currently has 33 members including Switzerland. Eurocontrol develops, coordinates and plans ATM strategies for the whole of Europe. It works in conjunction with national authorities, providers of air traffic control services such as skyguide, civil and military users of airspace, airports, industry representatives, professional associations and relevant European organisations.
CANSO
The worldwide association of air traffic control providers, CANSO (Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation) based in Amsterdam has over 60 full and associate members. Founded in 1997, today CANSO is one of the most important representatives in the air traffic control industry, particularly within the context of international specialist organisations.
