Safety Strategy: safety objectives for 2009-2013
The Safety Strategy is a tool to manage the development of skyguide's Safety Management System (SMS) and is the guideline for continuous improvement.

Through its extensive activities, skyguide makes sure that its SMS evolves to match European and world best practice, whilst ensuring that it meets its regulatory obligations.
The high-level document "Safety Strategy 2009-2013" outlines the major areas of the Safety Management System that need to be enhanced in the coming years, to keep up with the changing environment in which an air navigation service provider finds itself.
The Safety Strategy 2009-2013 details the following seven Strategic Objectives (SOs):
- SO1 - Improve safety processes and documentation
- SO2 - Establish safety levels
- SO3 - Clarify safety roles and responsibilities
- SO4 - Improve the structure of safety training and education of staff
- SO5 - Develop understanding of safety, capacity, sustainability and cost relationship based on risk assessment concepts
- SO6 - Improve safety culture and communication
- SO7 - Improve the safety regulation process.
