What are RSS feeds?
RSS feeds allow you to see when websites have added new contents. You can get the latest headlines in one place (in your aggregator or feed reader), as soon as they are published, without having to visit the websites you have taken the feed from.
The RSS format allows news data to be read and browsed easily so that Internet users can get a quick overview over the updates of the websites selected. There is some discussion as to what RSS stands for, some opting for "Rich Site Summary", others for "Real(ly) Simple Syndication" or "RDF Site Summary".
How to use RSS feeds
To use RSS feeds you need an RSS feed reader or aggregator (such as RssReader, NewsGator, Google Reader, NetNewsWire, Netvibes, etc.), to be downloaded or accessed on the Internet for free.
The Internet Explorer 7.0, Firefox and Safari browsers have an integrated RSS reader. If you use a separate reader, click on the orange RSS icon displayed automatically at the end of the browser's URL address field and copy the RSS link in your feed reader.
