Geneva, 27 January 2026 – Following a technical incident, Skyguide temporarily closed the Geneva airspace as a precautionary measure. Skyguide is now operating at 80 percent of capacity again. This measure will be maintained for 24 hours.

During the night, Skyguide carried out a planned software update. Some system components were not loaded correctly. Therefore, a return to the original software version and a controlled restart of the system was necessary in the morning. Skyguide carried out a clear-the-sky in Geneva at 09:21am as a safety measure. This means that all aircraft already in Geneva airspace were able to land as planned, but no more take-offs took place, and no new flights were accepted into the Geneva airspace.

At 10:30 am, a capacity of around 50 percent was available again, and this could be increased to 80 percent at 11:30 am. Skyguide will maintain this measure for 24 hours, after which we expect to return to normal capacity.

Zurich airspace was not affected and operated normally.

The safety of all flights and passengers was guaranteed at all times. Skyguide regrets the inconvenience this precautionary measure has caused for partners and passengers.
