At Skyguide’s control centre in Dübendorf, a technical issue has occurred at the interface between en-route and approach control. A system that supports air traffic controllers in managing arriving aircraft does not reliably display flights with significant delays. Controllers therefore transfer the affected flights using a manual procedure. This procedure is well established but requires more time.
To ensure safety at all times, Skyguide is reducing approach capacity at Zurich Airport by 30% from the start of operations of April 22nd, 2026.
Skyguide’s technicians have identified the cause of the issue and are already working on a solution. A task force has been established. Skyguide regrets the inconvenience caused to its partners, customers and their passengers. It will provide an update on the situation during the morning.
