Zürich, 31 May 2026 – The Swiss air navigation service provider Skyguide and Swiss International Air Lines paid tribute to our national hockey team this evening with a special gesture: after takeoff in Zurich, a SWISS aircraft drew a heart in the sky. The specially planned flight path was developed in close cooperation between Skyguide and SWISS. Skyguide congratulates the Swiss national ice hockey team on their outstanding performance at the World Championship.
This evening, Skyguide and Swiss International Air Lines drew a heart in the Zurich night sky in honor of the Swiss national hockey team.
The unusual flight path of a SWISS aircraft was planned and coordinated in close collaboration between Skyguide and SWISS. After departing from runway 32 using the standard departure procedure, the aircraft flew in the shape of a heart. For this special initiative, SWISS used flight LX1848 from Zurich to Thessaloniki, scheduled to depart at 10:40 p.m. The aircraft operated under the callsign SWR26WM. Once the heart shape was completed, SWR26WM rejoined its regular route and continued the flight to Thessaloniki.
Throughout the manoeuvre, the aircraft was supported by air traffic controllers in the Zurich control tower, departure control, and the Zurich Area Control Center (ACC). All applicable regulations were observed, and airspace safety was ensured at all times.
Skyguide congratulates the Swiss national ice hockey team on their outstanding performance at the World Championship. We are proud of you!
