Statement at 17.30

Skyguide experts have now identified the root cause of the technical disruption. The affected systems are operating normally again.

Skyguide has increased capacity in Swiss airspace to 80%. To ensure the continued reliability and stability of the systems, a 20% capacity reduction will remain in place during a 24-hour stabilisation phase. This is a standard safety procedure.

Following the successful completion of the stabilisation phase, Skyguide will return to full capacity.

Statement at 16.20

Technical malfunction at Skyguide reduces capacity in Swiss airspace. As a precautionary measure following the incident, Skyguide is currently operating at 50% capacity. Departures and arrivals at Zurich and Geneva airports were temporarily suspended but have since resumed.

The restriction is due to a malfunction affecting a system that generates the radar display used by air traffic controllers to monitor air traffic. As a precaution, Skyguide has reduced capacity in Swiss airspace by 50%. The safety of operations in Swiss airspace remains fully assured. Following a brief interruption, flight operations at Zurich and Geneva airports have resumed. Due to the reduced capacity, flight delays may occur.

Skyguide has activated its crisis cell and is working intensively to resolve the issue and minimise the impact on flight operations. There are no indications of a cyberattack. Skyguide regrets the incident and apologises to its partners and their passengers for the inconvenience caused.
